  1. Over 80 companies have been involved in developing UltraViolet including Sony Pictures, Universal Pictures, Warner Brothers, Twentieth Century Fox, Paramount Pictures, Roadshow, Samsung, Panasonic, Microsoft and Intel. Together these companies form a consortium called the DECE (Digital Entertainment Content Ecosystem); the creators of UltraViolet.

UltraViolet is the new digital way to legally watch and collect movies and TV shows. No more copyright theft required!

From 1 May 2013, the majority of new release movies and TV shows will be available to add to your UltraViolet Collection at the same time as they’re available on Blu-ray and DVD. There will also be an increasing number of UltraViolet enabled movies and TV shows from existing collections.

  2. Add to your digital UltraViolet Collection in one of two ways:

    • Buy a Blu-ray or DVD disc with UltraViolet from any retailer
UltraViolet will be bundled with most new release Blu-ray and DVD discs in Australia and New Zealand from 1 May 2013. You can purchase these from retailers including Big W, Coles, EzyFLIX, JB Hi-Fi, Kmart, Sanity, Target, and Woolworths. Look for the UltraViolet logo and sticker in store.

    • Buy an UltraViolet enabled digital movie or TV show from a digital retailer
Most new release digital movies and TV shows will be available on UltraViolet in Australia and New Zealand from 1 May 2013. You can purchase these online from digital retailers including EzyFLIX and JB Hi-Fi.
  3. In order to create your UltraViolet Collection, you first need to set up your free UltraViolet Account. You can do this at www.ultravioletHQ.com or by visiting an UltraViolet Retailer's website such as EzyFLIX and JB Hi-Fi.

Creating an UltraViolet Account is like opening a bank account. Just as your bank account registers all your deposits and withdrawals, your UltraViolet Account allows you to register all your movie and TV show purchases. Also like a bank, your UltraViolet Account is hosted securely in the cloud by the creators of UltraViolet, and you’ll be asked to choose an account name and password to manage your account.

You are also able to share your UltraViolet Account with up to 5 other members of your household. Again like a bank, each person can have separate usernames and passwords. You can even personalise each person’s view of the collection. For any children who will be accessing the account, you can enable parental controls to prevent them accessing unsuitable movie and TV shows in your collection.

  4. Once you have created your UltraViolet Account, you can link it to any ‘store’ accounts you hold with physical retailers like JB Hi-Fi, online retailers like EzyFLIX or via an App such as Flixster. This will allows those retailers to:

    • Automatically add your movie and TV purchases directly into your UltraViolet Collection (so you don’t have to)
    • Enable you to access and view your UltraViolet collection from their website (instead of visiting www.ultravioletHQ.com)
    • Enable you to watch a movie or TV show from within your UltraViolet Collection via their website

Please visit retailer websites for specific details on how to link your UltraViolet Account to your ‘store’ account, as it varies by retailer.

  5. You can access your collection wherever you have internet access and no new or special equipment is required.

Watch a movie or TV show from your collection via a download (if you’re offline, such as on an airplane) or stream (if you’re online) directly from an UltraViolet Retailer (such as EzyFLIX or JB Hi-Fi) to your compatible registered internet connected device.

Most UltraViolet movies and TV shows will be available for purchase in either Standard Definition (SD) or High Definition (HD). UltraViolet movies bundled with a Blu-ray™ disc will generally be in HD, and when bundled with a DVD, in SD.

To stream or download in HD, you must first own your UltraViolet movie or TV show in HD. You should also ensure your UltraViolet Retailer and internet connection supports HD streaming.

Once you register an UltraViolet movie or TV show in your account, you:

    • Are entitled to a minimum of 3 free downloads (up to full HD) of that movie or TV show and at least 12 months of free unlimited streaming
    • Can have 3 simultaneous streams of the same movie or TV show
(which is useful if you’re sharing your account with others)
    • Can watch your collection on up to 12 compatible registered devices, such as TVs; PCs and Macs; Tablets and Smartphones, including Apple and Android; or a Blu-ray player or Game Console connected to an HDTV.
